Security Services NW, Inc. (“SSNW”) takes the protection of your personal data seriously. This Privacy Policy governs your use of the software application SHEPHERD SHIELD (the “Application”) for mobile devices and explains how we collect, use, and disclose information about you in connection with your use of the Application. We may change this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make changes, we will notify you by revising the date at the top of the Privacy Policy.

 

BY ACCESSING OR USING THE APPLICATION, YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOU HAVE READ, UNDERSTAND, AND AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THIS PRIVACY POLICY. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY, THEN PLEASE DO NOT USE THE APPLICATION.

 

What Information Does the Application Obtain and How is it Used?

We may collect and store information about you when you use the Application.  We use the information to provide the Application’s functionality, improve the Application’s quality, personalize your experience, track usage of the Application, provide customer support, and comply with legal obligations.  You can stop collection of information by the Application at any time by uninstalling the Application.

 

Among the information we collect are the following:

 

Account and Login Information:  In order to use certain features of the Application, you may wish to register and create an account with the Application.  When you create your account, we may collect, store, and use personal information about you that you provide to us, including your first and last name, your email address, your street address and zip code, your telephone number, your gender, and your birth date.  By providing this information, you are opting to receive messages from us related to your registration and use of the Application. 

 

Public Content:  As part of your use of the Application, you may provide information about your surroundings, including information regarding various activities, events, information or individuals in your area.  This information is intended for public consumption, and we may display, transmit or otherwise provide such information to other users of the Application, as well as to third parties, including law enforcement.

  

Information about Third Parties:  By registering an account and using the Application, you may provide to us information about third parties, including information about individuals that you list as emergency contacts and information about any individuals involved in or located near the activities, events, or other information that you provide as part of your use of the Application.  This information will only be collected, used and stored to the extent necessary to provide the functionality of the Application, which in certain cases may include public distribution of the information when such information is already publicly known and/or provided to us for such purposes.

 

Activity:  We may store information about your use of the Application, such as the frequency of use, the date and time of use, your alert preferences, and the frequency and nature of your contributions and submissions to the Application. Information about your location (including geolocation and GPS location) may be collected by the Application.  The Application may also collect certain information automatically, including, but not limited to, the type of mobile device you use, your mobile device’s unique device ID, the IP address of your mobile device, your mobile operating system, and information about the way you use the Application.

 

Third Parties

We may provide information about you to third parties as follows:

 

Other Users of the Application, Law Enforcement and Other Official Entities:  You acknowledge that, apart from the personally identifying information you provide in registering and creating an account with the Application, the information you provide while using the Application is intended for public consumption and, in certain cases, for reporting to law enforcement or other official entities.  We will provide such information to other users, law enforcement and other official entities without identifying you personally whenever possible and to the extent permitted by law.   

 

Aggregate Information:  We may share user information in the aggregate with third parties, such as advertisers and content distributors.

 

Investigations:  We may investigate and disclose information from or about you if we have a good faith belief that such investigation or disclosure (a) is reasonably necessary to comply with legal process and law enforcement instructions and orders, such as a search warrant subpoena, statute, judicial proceeding, or other legal process served on us; (b) is helpful to prevent, investigate, or identify possible wrongdoing in connection with the Application; or (c) protects our rights, reputation, property, or that of our users, affiliates, or the public.  If you complain to us about content provided by the Application, we may share the substance of your complaint with the contributor of that content in order to provide an opportunity for the contributor to respond.

 

Links:  The Application may contain links to unaffiliated third party services.  Except as set forth herein, we do not share your personal information with them, and are not responsible for their privacy practices. We suggest you read the privacy policies on or applicable to all such third party services.

 

Data Retention and Account Termination

We will retain data provided by you for as long as you use the Application and for a reasonable time thereafter.

 

Children

The Application is intended for general audiences and is not directed to children under 13.  We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.  If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal information without parental consent, please contact us at the address provided below.  If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information without parental consent, we take steps to remove such information and terminate the child’s account.

 

Changes to This Policy

We may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time.  The most current version of the Privacy Policy will govern our collection, use, and disclosure of information about you.  If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will notify you by email prior to the effective date of the changes.  By continuing to access or use the Application after those changes become effective, you agree to the revised Privacy Policy.

 

Security

We follow generally accepted industry standards to protect the personal information submitted to us, both during transmission and once we receive it.  However, no method of transmission over the Internet or via mobile device, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure.  Therefore, while we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

 

California Residents: Your California Privacy Rights
